Behold Retreats is launching a bespoke entheogen plant medicine service, where guests are taken on a holistic wellness journey to destinations where plant medicine is completely legal. Each program incorporates individual needs and preferences of each guest, as personalised natural health and well-being takes off as a major industry trend.

Founded this year by Hong Kong-based Jonathan de Potter, Behold Retreats is a new wellness company offering packages that take guests on entheogen plant medicine programs. Retreats are located in destinations where plant medicines such as the ayahuasca, psilocybin and san Pedro cactus are legal and safe, from South America to Europe and the Caribbean.

Each program is tailored to every guests’ individual preferences and needs, and plant medicine programs involve everything from education to meditation and post-integration support with a qualified therapist. Behold Retreats says that its service is the first-of-its-kind, and allows customers to reach peak wellness, mental health and performance.

"We are pleased to introduce this natural evolution in wellbeing and performance in these challenging times. We encourage people to do their own research on plant medicine, to ask themselves whether they may benefit, and to look within and be guided by professionals to make their own educated decision." Jonathan de Potter, Founder of Behold Retreats.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, health and wellbeing – both physical and mental – is more important than ever before. According to current estimates by Hong Kong-based charity Mind HK, roughly one in seven individuals in the city are suffering from challenges with their mental health at any given time, and this is likely to be even higher amid the pandemic and the economic toll that it is causing.

Behold Retreats are among the natural wellness advocates who believe that plant medicine could provide the support that individuals need right now. Over the past few years, more scientific research has been undertaken into the effectiveness of entheogen plant medicine, with one study finding that psilocybin – widely known as magic mushrooms – could promote long-term psychological growth.

Personalised health is also rising in popularity in recent years, as scientists continue to demonstrate that everything from optimal nutrition to general health advice is affected by many individual and specific environmental factors, making one-sized-fits-all strategies a much outdated approach.

“We are pleased to introduce this natural evolution in wellbeing and performance in these challenging times,” said de Potter. “We encourage people to do their own research on plant medicine, to ask themselves whether they may benefit, and to look within and be guided by professionals to make their own educated decision.”

The Behold founder also added that the company is striving to create “communities of interest, and to connect with academia, partners, policymakers, psychiatrists, and therapists to begin conversations on if and how to introduce this important science in culturally appropriate ways.”
